COMMUNITY; Homelessness Week

#HW2020

It is estimated that over 9,000 Western Australians experience homelessness every night, a third of whom are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. This number is expected to grow, not just for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, but across the whole population once the Federal government COVID-19 income support payments finish and the State’s six-month moratorium on evictions ends.

This year, our team are working with and assisting Zonta House Refuge Association Inc by running a community collection of much needed items to pass on to those less fortunate.

If you would like to join us, we are collecting the following items:

  • Sleeping bags
  • Blankets
  • Sheets
  • Pillows
  • Sanitary items (deodorant, pads, tampons etc.)
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Clothes
  • Furniture (white goods, chairs, tables etc.)

Please note: Bedding/Clothing/Homeware items can be new or used – must be in good condition.

These can be dropped to our Shelley or Applecross Offices. We will be running the collection year-round, with the items being donated to the refuge at the end of every month.
