Best of The Burbs: Why We ♥︎ Brentwood

Brentwood’s proximity to the Bull Creek wetlands ensures a variety of spectacular wildlife and native flora are part of daily life.

Pulse Property Group director Jared Rayner said the suburb was home to a number of wonderful parks, reserves and two environmentally significant lake habitats.

“It’s an amazing place for children, families and adventurers to explore,” Jared said.

Brentwood was developed as a State housing suburb after WWII, but its original inhabitants were Aboriginal people from the Wadjuk Beeliar tribe who used the wetlands as a summer source of food and water.

The team at Pulse Property Group has put together their top 5 Brentwood favourites.

FAB 5

Slam dunk picnic
Enjoy a twilight picnic at Ric Vosper Reserve off Reddington Way. This intimate suburban park has a playground, basketball hoop and shooting square, benches and is suitable for dogs. The little oasis was named after former City of Melville councillor Richard Vosper.

Limber up
Try Pilates at the Blue Gum Community Centre in Moolyeen Road. Sessions are held Tuesdays at 9.15 am. These classes are great for flexibility and muscle strength and are a super way to meet new people.

Back to nature
Enjoy a 1km stroll around Bateman Park’s Kaalitj – ngort Koondaam trail and stream. The name of the trail means ‘dragonfly dreaming’ in Noongar because the local Whadjuk elders were overwhelmed with the blue dragonflies during their first visit to the site. You can even learn about the area via audio guide while you walk.

Anyone for tennis?
The Blue Gum Park Tennis Club in Disney Street is an amazing community hub. The club has 22 courts, including grass, hard floodlit and synthetic and there are loads of opportunities to play socially and/or competitively. They even have regular open court sessions for non-members for just $15. These 90-minute social events are an awesome way to meet new people, have a laugh, and play tennis at your own skill level – all to the tune of a killer soundtrack.
